Throwback!! Roger Federer Wins Madrid Masters 2012
ROGER FEDERER MADRID 2012
Roger Federer Madrid 2012 Champion – The First and Last Blue Clay Tournament, which was the idea of Romanian Tennis player turned businessman Ian Tiriac.
The Tournament started off with a backlash from various players such as Roger Federer himself saying
“KEEP THE RED CLAY, OBVIOUSLY, THOSE KIND OF THINGS”
Other notable names such as Rafa Nadal (King of Clay) and Serena Williams also raised questions.
Federer’s first match (second round) was against Canadian Milos Raonic whom he beat 4-6 7-5 7-6
His Third round match was against Richard Gasquet of France, Roger beat him easily 6-3 6-2 to march into the quarters.
There Roger beat Home favourite David Ferrer 6-4 6-4 and then faced Tipseravec comfortably 6-2 6-3.
The First ever clay court final was awaiting where Roger Federer beat Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic after losing the first set 3-6 7-5 7-5.
Thus becoming the first and currently the only KING OF BLUE CLAY.
Roger then went on to the Rome masters with full confidence and then to the Roland Garros where he would be defeated by the eventual finalist Novak DJokovic
